What Duva does

  • Your data stays in Canada

    Servers and backups are in Canada. Email content is deleted after 30 days, and open and click tracking is off unless you ask for it.

  • One key per domain, your identity

    Each key opens a single domain. The DKIM signature, the bounce return path and the sender use your own domain name.

  • Tracking, recipient by recipient

    Each recipient gets their own copy and has their own status, readable through the API and signed webhooks.

The interface and the documentation are in French and English. Transactional email hosted in Canada

Official client libraries exist for Node.js and Python. See the client libraries

What Duva does not offer yet

Duva is young and deliberately simple. For now it does not offer email templates, inbound email or a dedicated IP address: you send through the HTTPS API or by SMTP. We publish no deliverability figures.

Mailgun notably offers inbound email receiving and routing, email templates and an SMTP relay.

If these features are essential to your project, Mailgun may remain the right choice. If you mostly send transactional email from your application (confirmations, receipts, password resets) and where your data is hosted matters, Duva is worth a look.

Migrating from Mailgun to Duva

  1. Add your domain

    Create an API key for that domain, then publish the DKIM key and the bounce return CNAME that Duva gives you.

  2. Send in parallel

    Keep Mailgun in place and send just one type of message through Duva first.

  3. Switch over

    Once delivery statuses check out, send everything through Duva. Bring your suppressed addresses over with the suppression list API.

A simple send with Mailgun

curl -s --user 'api:API_KEY' \
  https://api.mailgun.net/v3/exemple.ca/messages \
  -F from='[email protected]' \
  -F to='[email protected]' \
  -F subject='Your order' \
  -F text='Thank you for your order.'

The same send with Duva

curl -X POST https://api.duva.ca/v1/exemple.ca/messages \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer dv_..." \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "from": "Example <[email protected]>",
    "to": ["[email protected]"],
    "subject": "Your order",
    "text": "Thank you for your order."
  }'
