Comparison
Duva and other transactional email services
Mailgun, Postmark and SendGrid are established services with far more features than Duva. Here is where Duva stands out, and where it is not (yet) the right choice.
Side by side
| Topic | Duva | Mailgun | Postmark | SendGrid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Beauharnois (Quebec), at OVHcloud; encrypted backups in a Canadian data centre. | Mailgun announces two hosting regions, the United States and the European Union, chosen by the customer. | Postmark states that its servers and primary data are hosted in a data centre near Chicago and at Amazon Web Services, and that it has no plans to add servers in the European Union. | SendGrid (Twilio) documents a data residency option in the European Union, through a regional subuser. |
| Free plan | A free sandbox of 100 emails a month. | Mailgun offers a free plan of 100 emails a day. | Postmark offers a free plan of 100 emails a month, with no expiry. | SendGrid offers a 60-day free trial at 100 emails a day; its permanent free plan was retired starting May 27, 2025. |

Choosing Duva, or not
Duva is for teams that send transactional email from their application (confirmations, receipts, password resets) and for whom Canadian hosting, an interface available in French and English, and a fixed price in Canadian dollars matter.
It is not the right choice if you need email templates, inbound email or a dedicated IP address today: Duva offers none of these for now. You send through the HTTPS API or by SMTP.
